The perfect rodi water every time - now easier than ever!

Creating the ideal water conditions for your planted aquarium just got simpler! If you’re using RODI water, you already know it’s a clean slate—pure, but completely devoid of minerals that plants and fish rely on. That’s why remineralizing with the right balance of GH and KH is absolutely essential during water changes.

To make this easy, I’ve created a quick-reference mixing card specifically for Seachem products. This handy guide shows the exact grams of Seachem Acid Buffer, Alkaline Buffer, and Equilibrium to use for every 5 gallons of RODI water. It even includes a simple formula to scale for larger batches!

🐠 Why This Matters

  • Plants thrive when your water has stable GH and KH.

  • Fish stay healthy when pH swings are avoided.

  • You save time with pre-measured amounts and fewer testing surprises.

💧 What About Top-Offs?

Great question!

You should NOT remineralize top-off water.

Top-off water only replaces what evaporated — and evaporation removes only pure H₂O, not minerals. If you remineralize top-off water, you’ll accidentally increase GH/KH over time.

Quick Rule:

  • ✅ Remineralize RODI water for water changes only

  • ❌ Use plain RODI water for top-offs
